At the heart of the FA401EA model is the AMD Ryzen MAX+ Strix Halo processor. This chip is paired with the formidable Radeon 8060S integrated graphics, which boasts 40 cores. Asus claims this combination delivers discrete-class performance, challenging the notion that integrated graphics can't handle serious gaming and creative workloads. The Strix Halo platform is still relatively new, but AMD is expanding its lineup, potentially leading to more affordable and powerful systems in the future.

Memory and Performance Profile

A key characteristic of Strix Halo systems is the use of onboard memory. The TUF Gaming A14 features non-user-replaceable RAM, but it's not a slouch. It supports quad-channel LPDDR5x-8000 RAM, providing an impressive 256GB/s of memory bandwidth. This should allow for a generous amount of speedy memory to be configured from the factory, benefiting gaming, graphics applications, and AI tasks.

To keep things running smoothly, Asus has engineered a cooling system that allows the processor to draw up to 85 watts in turbo mode, ensuring the hardware can stretch its legs when needed.

Unlike the memory, the storage is fully user-upgradeable. The laptop includes two user-accessible M.2 2280 slots for PCIe NVMe SSDs, offering plenty of room for expansion.
